John F. Lemker, a member of the Wood Burditt Group, LLC, has practiced more than 50 years representing clients primarily in the food, drug, cosmetic, biologics and medical device industries with respect to the regulatory requirements enforced by the Food and Drug Administration, the Food Safety Inspection Service and other US Department of Agriculture agencies, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. He also has experience in representing clients regulated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. He has also represented clients with state and local enforcement and compliance matters.
His varied practice includes consulting with corporations and individuals regarding compliance issues associated with a variety of consumer and industrial products. He assists clients with regulatory submissions seeking marketing approvals from agencies or other types of authorizations, such as new drug applications, medical device premarket approvals or 510(k) submissions. He has represented companies in various administrative enforcement proceedings, administrative and judicial, and has assisted clients in responding to regulatory inspections and investigations and product recalls. He assists clients at all stages of product compliance, from issues associated with initial development to marketing of finished products.
Mr. Lemker is a former chair of the Chicago Bar Association Food, Drug and Cosmetic and Consumer products Committee. He has served as an adjunct professor of food and drug law at Northwestern University School of Law and at Loyola School of Law for several years.
He served for five years in the United States Navy. He is on the Board of Trustees for the Union League Boys and Girls Clubs and on the Board of Directors for Envision Unlimited, a nonprofit organization which provides services to individuals with developmental disabilities. It also provides mental health services. He received his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and his JD from Northwestern University School of Law.
